Chill & Thrive: How I Roll with TCM-Inspired Summer Eating

Summer is here and as the sun cranks up the heat, I’ve been exploring Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) wisdom to keep my body in sync with the season. Let me break down how I’m serving my dishes to keep myself sharp and cool.

1. Keep it Cool and Hydrated:

When the sun’s blazing, my go-to is high-water-content heroes like watermelon and crisp cucumbers. It’s like a hydrating party for my taste buds and keeps me from turning into a human sauna.

2. Light and Easy Does It:

Summer calls for breezy, easy-to-digest meals. Salads, steamed veggies, and anything I can toss on the grill are the stars of my summer kitchen. No heavy-duty digestion required!

3. Embrace the Bitter Side:

Bitter might not be everyone’s cup of tea, but in TCM, it’s the secret weapon for balancing out that fiery summer energy. Arugula, endive, and a bit of bitter melon are my not-so-secret weapons against overheating.

4. Fruit Fiesta for the Win:

Peaches, plums, and apricots—oh my! These seasonal fruits not only taste like summer bliss but also pack an energy punch. Snack game strong, and I’m ready for whatever the day throws at me.

5. Sip on Cool Herbal Magic:

I’ve been swapping out my regular brew for herbal teas like chrysanthemum or mint. It’s like giving my insides a cool breeze, and it keeps me zen despite the summer hustle.

6. Get Mindful with Your Munchies:

TCM wants us to slow down and Savor every bite. So, I’m trying to be more mindful, appreciating the colours, textures, and flavours of my meals. It’s a vibe, trust me.

So, here’s my summer food mantra: Chill & Thrive. With a little TCM-inspired wisdom, I’m turning my plate into a summer symphony that keeps me feeling cool, energized, and totally in sync with the season. Who says eating can’t be an art form? Cheers to a delicious summer ahead! 🌞🍉
